Junior Volunteers

Our Junior & Youth Volunteers Programme
Overview

Each time a Junior Volunteer attends Jamatkhana, their duties are recorded on IIUK by a Team Leader. Duties completed outside of Jamatkhana are also recorded.

This produces a unique service record for each Junior and the system automatically issues points!

  • 5 points are issued for attending Jamatkhana in the correct uniform
  • 10 points are issued for each duty completed in Jamatkhana
  • The points allocated for duties outside Jamatkhana differ according to their difficulty

There is no limit on the number of points accumulated in one go. The more the better!

There is no need to register to become a Junior Volunteer, simply speak to your Junior Volunteers Team Leader or Director to get started! We are very flexible and welcome your child to serve whenever they are available!

Key Objectives

Youth development, encompassing skills training, motivation, and recognition, is among the IV’s prime objectives of fostering the spirit of volunteerism and community leadership in the young generation.

IV should be empowered to take on activities and structures at the national and local level to engage young Ismaili Volunteers, help them develop new skills, form lasting relationships, and internalise the ethic and spirit of Jamati service.

As a mentoring scheme for our youth, the Junior Volunteer Programme (JVP) forms a vital component of the Ismaili Volunteers.

Within each Jamatkhana, a Team Leader is appointed to run the JVP. He/she is part of the local IV Leadership team.

It is obligatory for the Team Leader to help the Junior and Youth Volunteers progress through the JVP within their Jamatkhana. By doing so, they will find that the volunteers feel empowered to carry out voluntary seva, develop pride in wearing their uniform and will want to continue carrying out their voluntary duties.

Categories & Levels

The new JVP is split into two categories:

  • Foundation (below the age of 9 years old)
  • Advanced (between 9 to 13 years old)

Every 100 points accumulated moves the Junior Volunteer onto the next level

Therefore, Junior Volunteers on:

Level 1 will have Between 1 to 99 points,

Level 2 will have Between 100 to 199 points,

Level 3 will have Between 200 to 299 points

There is no minimum age to enrol in our programme but for the safety of our volunteers, we ask that Junior Volunteers below the age of 6 serve with a family member or carer.
