IV Uniform FAQ
These guidelines are framed to update and contemporise the IV structure in a manner that respects
the Jamat’s legacy, spirit, and tradition of voluntary service, provides
consistency and clarity, and strengthens the operational capacity of the IV
organisation worldwide.
Ismaili Volunteers are visible ambassadors of service and leadership. Wearing the uniform consistently and professionally reflects our shared values and helps present a clear IV identity to our community and the wider public. The updated uniform honours the Jamat’s legacy of voluntary service while ensuring a consistent and recognisable identity across the global Jamat.
IV Directors can place bulk orders via the IV uniform application on IIUK. Payments must be made at the time the order is placed.
Yes, navy sleeveless jumpers are permitted. Should you wish to wear one, you will be required to source your own.
To maintain consistent standards across our uniformed volunteers, please avoid wearing any other pins when on duty and only wear the current IV pin.
Please note that if you have a leadership badge, then you do not need to wear the IV pin in addition to this.
The blazer is optional during Jamatkhana ceremonies but is a required to be worn during events.
No, the IV pin should only be worn on the left side of your shirt, blazer or plain jumper/cardigan
In keeping with our uniform standards, you can only wear plain black shoes. Please refer to the Uniform Policy (IV Uniform Policy – Ismaili Volunteers) for more details.
Yes, female volunteers are permitted to wear the tie instead of the scarf should they wish. This also applies to female junior volunteers.

We should be proud to show our identity and we should wear it properly, after all, we are all leaders and should set an example.
We kindly ask volunteers to wear a white collared shirt, as it’s a long-standing part of our uniform policy. Shirts without collars aren’t in line with the guidelines, so we encourage everyone to follow the dress code to maintain consistency and respect for tradition.

Yes, we welcome all multi-faith family members to wear the IV uniform and serve as volunteers. Please speak to your IV Director to see how this can be facilitated in your local Jamatkhana.
Currently, both the shalwar kameez and sari are not part of the uniform policy for our jurisdiction and therefore, we encourage you to follow the uniform policy IV Uniform Policy – Ismaili Volunteers that has been approved for our jurisdiction.
While fellow volunteers may recognise you, the leadership badge ensures you are easily identifiable to all members of the Jamat. Volunteers are often the first point of contact in our Jamatkhanas, and wearing a badge provides clear visibility and accountability.
​​We should take pride in wearing our designated uniform every time we volunteer, as it reflects our identity and unity and therefore the official IV logo should not be used to create other items such as lanyards and armbands. The official IV polo shirt is available as a suitable alternative when performing duties outside the prayer hall.
